T'Vondre Sweat named to the PFWA NFL All-Rookie Team

The Titans selected defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat with the 38th pick in the 2024 NFL draft. "Meatloaf", had an outstanding college career for the Texas Longhorns, where he was awarded with many honors including winning the Outland trophy, being a unanimous All-American, being the Big-12 Defensive Player of the Year, and being named on the All Big-12 First Team roster. His 6'4 366 pound frame allows for him to be a big asset in eliminating the run game and barrel towards the quarterback in the pass rush.

Originally, Sweat was expected to be a first round pick, however, a few months before the NFL draft, Sweat was arrested for a suspected DUI. This made him fall on the draft board and ended up being available early in the second round.

Many fans were skeptical of the pick, and didn't believe in the large lineman's ability to be a near-every snap player. Another worry was his ability to rush the passer, as its difficult for a 366-pound person to speed towards the passrush and chase them around.

Meatloaf managed to silence the haters early on in his NFL career, as he played almost 700 snaps on offense, ranking among the top of defensive lineman, and became a beast in the run game. He also managed to have a solid impact in the pass rush, as he was often getting past offensive lineman and pressuring the quarterback. He got his first career sack on C.J Stroud in the Titans' week 12 upset against the Houston Texans, and managed to force and recover a fumble on quarterback Joe Burrow in the teams week 16 loss to the Bengals, where he returned it nearly 30 yards and stiff armed a player, resulted in a crazy celebration.

Due to his impact in his rookie season, Sweat has just been named to the PFWA All-Rookies team, making him one of the best rookie defensive lineman. The Tennessee Titans have set their defensive line up well for the future with the pick of Sweat, and he will make a great pairing with superstar defensive lineman Jeffrey Simmons.
