Tennessee Titans 53-Man Roster Prediction Before Preseason Week 3

The Tennessee Titans are about to play in their third and final preseason game, so players have one final chance to make their surge to make the roster. I thought it would be fun to do a 53-man roster prediction a couple weeks early!

Quarterbacks (3) - Cam Ward, Mitch Trubisky, Will Levis

NFL teams don't always bring three quarterbacks into the regular season; however, the Tennessee Titans feel like they have no other choices.

They signed Mitch Trubisky to a 2-year, $10.5 million dollar contract, so it was clear they plan for him to be their backup to Cam Ward. The expectation to fans was that they were going to find a trade partner for Will Levis, but that has not been the case. It wouldn't make sense to release the former second round pick, so barring the team finds a trade partner for Levis, all three will make the roster.

I expect Hendon Hooker to fall into the practice squad.

Runningbacks (5) - Tony Pollard, Tyjae Spears, Nick Singleton, Julius Chestnut, Kalel Mullings

Yes, five runningbacks might be an insane amount to bring into the regular season, i think it makes sense.

Julius Chestnut will likely make it for his special teams ability; it has carried him for years onto the Titans roster and I don't see that changing now, especially with Bones Fassel still being the special teams coordinator.

Pollard, Spears and Singleton are all a lock to make it, and Kalel Mullings brings extra size to the team, and is only in his second year. Releasing him would seem like a waste and I think he could be good in short yardage situations.

Wide Receivers (7) - Carnell Tate, Wan'Dale Robinson, Calvin Ridley, Elic Ayomanor, Chimere Dike, Bryce Oliver, K.J Osbourne

The wide receiver room is incredibly different this season, but there are still a few carrying over. Tate, Robinson, Ridley, Dike and Ayomanor are all of course going to get spots. Ridley signed a restructured contract, keeping him around, and Dike is a top returner in the NFL.

Oliver and Osbourne will both do more work in special teams if they make it. Oliver has been a good special teams player for multiple years now, and Osbourne bring experience and potential to round off the room.

Xavier Restreppo and Mason Kinsey will both likely fall back onto the practice squad.

Tight Ends (4) - Gunnar Helm, Daniel Bellinger, Kylen Granson, and David Martin-Robinson

The tight end room seems like on of the easier ones on the roster: Helm and Bellinger will clearly be the one and two, Granson has little competition to be the backup behind them, and Martin-Robinson is a big blocking tight end who has been consistent for multiple years.

Jaren Kanek would have made it but an injury ruined his season before it started.

Offensive Line (9) - Peter Skoronski, Dan Moore Jr, Austin Schlottman, Fernando Carmona, J.C. Latham, Pat Coogan, Jackson Slater, Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson, Austin Deculus

The offensive line is a mess. The starting 5 is fairly clear cut at this point with Moore, Skoronski, Schlottman, Carmona, and Latham, but the depth could go one of many different ways.

Cordell Volson has been terrible so far in camp and preseason, to the point he may lose his spot on the roster. Pat Coogan and Jackson Slater are both young plug-and-play interior lineman, and BCD and Deculus can fufill the tackle spots if they are needed.

Defensive Line (9) - John Franklin-Myers, Jeffery Simmons, Jackie Marshall, Keldric Faulk, Femi Oladejo, Jermaine Johnson, Jordan Elliot, Solomon Thomas, Jacob Martin

Titans head coach Robert Saleh enjoys a rotational defensive line that consists of a lot of bodies, so you can expect them to bring a heavy amount of interior defensive lineman and edge rushers.

JFM, Simmons, Faulk, Johnson, and Oladejo should all be locks to make it, as they are either big money stars or young draft picks who are developing. Other players such as Jacob Martin and Jackie Marshall should also be able to solidify spots in the 53-man roster.

Solomon Thomas was traded for and has experience with Robert Saleh, so I expect him to make it, and Jordan Elliot is a veteran with experience that will provide good rotational play.

Linebackers (4) - Cedric Gray, Anthony Hill Jr, Cody Barton, James Williams Sr

The linebacker core seems pretty clear cut; Cedric Gray is a star in the making and is coming off of a 100+ tackle campaign, Anthony Hill Jr was the Titans second round pick this season and is fast tracking to take over Cody Barton as a starter, and James Williams has provided good depth and special teams played for a couple years now.

Cody Barton may be a question, as he has not been particularly good recently, but I don't see them releasing him. If anything, they trade him before the season starts or at the deadline.

There is potential for another linebacker to make the roster, however I believe it will just be these four going into week one.

Cornerbacks (5) - Cor'Dale Flott, Alontae Taylor, Marcus Harris, Joshua Williams, Jalen McMurray

The Titans spent a lot of money to get the pairing off Cor'Dale Flott and Alontae Taylor, and Marcus Harris had a promising rookie season and is slotted to be the starter in the slot.

After those three, it becomes less clear who the Titans will bring into the regular season. Joshua Williams and Jalen McMurray are probably the best depth corners on the roster, so I imagine they will be the final two that the team holds on to.

Safeties (4) - Kevin Winston Jr, Amani Hooker, Tony Adams, Kendell Brooks

The safety room is fairly straight forward; Kevin Winston and Amani Hooker are the starters, while Adams and Brooks can both be depth and rotational.

My biggest question is if they bring someone in, especially as Amani Hooker regresses.
