Tennessee Titans 53 man roster predictions (Before Training Camp)

It's almost time for NFL training camp to start, so I figured it would be fun to predict the 53-man roster for the Tennessee Titans. These predictions are way too early, but that is what makes things fun, so let's get into it.

Quarterbacks (3): Cam Ward, Will Levis, Brandon Allen

A team needs 3 quarterbacks with the veto of the Emergency Quarterback Rule, meaning that of the 4 rostered quarterbacks on the Titans, one will be released. The likely answer will be Tim Boyle, who wwas seemingly only brought in to be a camp arm. Cam Ward will obviously make the team, and Will Levis will make it barring a trade. Brandon Allen backed up Brock Purdy last season, and has seen more success in his career than Boyle

Running Backs (4): Tony Pollard, Tyjae Spears, Kalel Mullings, Julius Chestnut

A team typically carries 3-4 halfbacks into the season, and the Titans have two locks: Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears. Spears and Pollard are expected to split the backfield in 2025, similar to what they did in 2024. Kalel Mullings is a rookie 6th round pick out of Michigan. A 6th round pick is not a lock for a roster, but the Titans have many needs, so general manager must like Mullings if he was willing to take him over a more needed position. I also expect Julius Chestnut will make the roster. Chestnut has experience with the team, as he has been on the roster consistently since 2022.

Wide Receivers (7): Calvin Ridley, Tyler Lockett, Chimere Dike, Elic Ayomanor, Van Jefferson, Xavier Restrepo, D.J. Chark Jr. (signing)

Calvin Ridley and Tyler Lockett are making the team no doubt, as well as rookie 4th round picks Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor. Van Jefferson was an early pick up in free agency, so I expect him to make the team, however I could see it going the other way if he is consistently outplayed in training camp and preseason by Restrepo or another player. I believe the team will sign a veteran receiver to help the rookie quarterback, and I expect that to be D.J. Chark Jr. New general manager Mike Borgonzi has no attachment to former 1st round pick Treylon Burks, and I see the experiment coming to an end here soon. Finally, Xavier Restrepo performed very well in mini camp, and has college ties to Cam Ward, so I see him making the roster and potentially being a kick returner for Tennessee. Mason Kinsey, Colton Dowell, Bryce Oliver, and Jha'Quan Jackson are all players who may find their way to the practice squad, but I don't see them making the team.

Tight Ends (3): Chig Okonkwo, Gunnar Helm, and David Martin-Robinson

Chigoziem Okonkwo has been the starting tight end for the Titans for three years at this point, and Gunnar Helm was drafted in the 4th round of this years NFL draft with the potential of taking over as the TE1 for the Titans over the next few seasons, so it makes sense for the two of them to make the roster. I don't see Josh Whyle making the roster this season due to his injury history and subpar performance. Okonkwo and Helm mainly prioritize in receiving, so I see David Martin-Robinson making the team to help block in short yardage and goal line situations.

Offensive Line (9): Lloyd Cushenberry III, Kevin Zeitler, Peter Skoronski, J.C. Latham, Dan Moore Jr, Corey Levin, Jackson Slater, Nick Harris (signing), Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson

The starting five is obvious, from left to right: Moore, Skoronksi, Cushenberry, Zeitler, Latham. A good offensive line needs depth though, as injuries are nearly guaranteed. Corey Levin has been the backup center for the Titans for several years, so it makes sense for the Titans to keep him. Jackson Slater was a 5th round pick in the recent draft, which gives him a good shot at making the roster and being a depth piece at guard. I wrote an article about 3 players the Titans should consider signing, and listed center/guard Nick Harris. Harris is a young center that could fill in if Lloyd Cushenberry III is not able to start the season, and has ties to offensive line coach Bill Callahan. Finally, Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson was an undrafted free agent from Florida that I can see being a good project for Callahan, and has all the physical traits needed to be a good offensive tackle.

Defensive Line (5): Jeffery Simmons, T'Vondre Sweat, Sebastian Joseph-Day, Keondre Coburn, James Lynch

This group is obvious, as Simmons and Sweat are the standout interior defensive lineman for the Titans. Joseph-Day signed a one-year extension with the team, and plays a rotational role for the defense. Coburn and Lynch are needed depth pieces for the line and will sometimes rotate in on short yardage plays for the team.

Edge (5): Oluwafemi Oladejo, Arden Key, Dre'Mont Jones, Jaylen Harrell, Lorenzo Carter

The Titans edge rushers are highlighted by veteran Arden Key and rookie Oluwafemi Oladejo. These two will likely be stationed on opposite sides of the defensive line and will provide pass rush and run stop. Dre'Mont Jones was signed to be a rotational edge piece for the Titans, and is a lock to make the team. Jaylen Harrell has experience with the team and will provide good depth in case of injury, and Lorenzo Carter is an experienced former 3rd round pick who has 21.5 sacks in his career, and I expect will round out the edge.

Linebackers (4): Cody Barton, James Williams, Cedric Gray, Otis Reese IV

The Titans middle linebackers is a big question going into training camp. Cody Barton was signed to be one of the starting linebackers in 2025, but the other position is shaping up to be a battle. James Williams, Cedric Gray both have the opportunity to take the starting job. Finally, Otis Reese IV may serve as depth for the middle linebacker, and even has the ability to fight for the starting position.

Cornerbacks (6): L'Jarius Sneed, Roger McCreary, Jarvis Brownlee Jr, Asante Samuel Jr. (signed), Darrell Baker Jr, Marcus Harris

Cornerback, like offensive line, is a position that relies heavily on depth. L'Jarius Sneed, Roger McCreary, and Jarvis Brownlee Jr. are very likely locks to be the main trio of cornerbacks this season. In the aforementioned article about free agents the Titans should sign, I mentioned Asante Samuel Jr. is a free agent. Samuel was at one point a borderline star for the Chargers and is still only 25 years old, so I expect the Titans to at least look at him. Darrell Baker and rookie Marcus Harris will provide much needed depth and special teams play for the defensive core.

Safeties (4): Amani Hooker, Xavier Woods, Kevin Winston Jr, Mike Brown

Safety is a pretty obvious one, with Amani Hooker being the veteran presence in the secondary, and potentially a top 10 safety in the NFL. The Titans Signed Xavier Woods to be their other starting safety, and drafte Kevin Winston Jr. out of Penn State in the 3rd to likely be a future starter. Finally, Mike Brown will likely be a depth piece and special teams player for 2025.
