3 Veteran Free Agents The Titans Should Target Before Camp

Training camp starts in a few weeks for the NFL, and there is plenty of talented free agents still available. The Tennessee Titans are a young team, so getting some veterans could be crucial for training the younger players. Here is three free agents the Titans should consider targeting:

Center Nick Harris

Lloyd Cushenberry III tore his achilles November 3rd against the New Englad Patriots, ending his season. This injury, being in the later half of the season, puts his ability to start week one in jeopardy. He stated in early June that he is optimistic about week one, but that is no guarantee. Nick Harris is a young piece that could be a band-aid at center if Cushenberry is not ready to go. Offensive lineman coach Bill Callahan worked with Harris from 2020-2024. Callahan has already showcased that he is willing to bring back former players, such as the trade of Leroy Watson. Even if the Titans don't need Harris to start for them, he will prove to be a good depth piece in case of injury.

Wide Reciever D.J Chark Jr.

The Tennessee Titans have changed their wide reciever room significantly since last season. They drafted Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor, as well as signing undrafted free agent Xavier Restrepo. One of the major changes, however, is losing Nick Westbrook-Ikhine to the Miami Dolphins. The Titans still need a reliable target for Cam Ward, and D.J Chark Jr. may be a better option than Van Jefferson. Chark has been injury riddled for the past few season, but has shown when he is not hurt he is a good option, eclipsing 1000 yards in 2019 for the Jaguars. The Titans need one more piece at reciever, and Chark is a cheap, reliable option.

Cornerback Asante Samuel Jr.

The Tennessee Titans need one more cornerback. The team released Chidobe Awuzie after an injury riddled 2024 season, leaving them with a question mark in their secondary. L'Jarius Sneed's health is uncertain after missing most of 2024, Roger McCreary is on a contract year, and Jarvis Brownlee Jr. is only going into his second season. The depth of the Titans cornerbacks is lackluster, with players such as Darrell Baker and Kevin Winston. Asante Samuel Jr. is a young option, only 25 years old, and was a star for the Chargers. Despite only starting 4 games last season due to injury, Samuel had 10+ passes defended and 2 interceptions in each season from 2021-2023. His health may be a concern, and he may not be the star he once was, but he could be a key piece for a good secondary in 2025.
