True fans looking to be the fan of the year for a sports team start their campaign early, and it's no different for Titans superfan Mitchell Firkins.
"Great One", as he calls himself on his X account @MitchellFirkins, has been a fan of the team since their days as the Houston Oilers, and been consistently going to games since the 1999 season, the first year they adopted the name "Titans".
Anyone can be a fan, but Great One takes it to the next step. Over the course of his fandom, Firkins has ammased 32 Titans related tattoos, including a Steve McNair portrait, a Marcus Mariota portrait, and a Mike Keith signature, but this last one is making headlines. On July 5th, Great One posted to his X account a photo of his newest tattoo, a combination of Cam Ward's name and signature celebration. This gathered online popularity quickly, but took a larger leap when @espnnfl posted it to their Instagram account.

He has one more goal with this Cam Ward tattoo: Get a signature. He stated in a X post that before he leaves Nissan Stadium during training camp on the 26th, he will get an autograph. Not on paper, but on his body.
He isn't new to media attention though. Back in 2017, Great One was viral for a tattoo celebrating the Titans winning the AFC South. Not only that, he was interviewed at a Titan's training camp session in 2019, which featured on channel 5.
It is a huge risk and commitment to get a tattoo related to a player, but not when Great One does it. His body is a timeline of Titans history. Tattoos relating from Steve McNair to the Oilers logo to Marcus Mariota to Ryan Tannehill to Cam Ward. Accomplishments such as AFC south championships are right there on the body. Nissan Stadium, Mike Keith, D-Hop, if you want Titans history just look at this man.

Not convinced yet that Great One should be fan of the year? He mentioned to Teen Titan, and stated on his X, that he has a baby due in around a week. What will his name be? Titan. Titan Lee Firkins. This guy is so dedicated that he is naming his son after his favorite team. If that doesn't scream superfan, I don't know what does.
Honestly, a fan of the year award is long overdue for Firkins, who sacrificed his body for the team. He is a timeline for the team, and gains the team and fanbase much needed publicity. Throughout 2025 we will continue to see Great One striving to be awarded the Titan's fan of the year, and if he does not, I don't imagine it stopping.
