This was the first time the Titans have drafted a quarterback in the first round since 2015, where they drafted Marcus Mariota with the second overall pick. Quarterbacks drafted with the intent to be day one starters often mark a distinct culture change in a locker room, and it is going to be no different with Cam Ward.

Cam Ward ended his college career with 18187 yards and 158 touchdowns across 5 seasons, playing with three different schools. He also threw 37 interceptions, making around a 4.3 touchdown to interception ratio, which is incredibly good. He has been awarded a plethora of awards including the Manning award, which is awarded the best quarterback judged by the sugar bowl committee, the ACC player of the year, and the Davey O'Brien award. He also came fourth in Heisman Trophy voting in the 2024 season.

Throughout the draft process, Ward became the clear favorite to be the first overall pick, due to his exceptional stats, his playmaking ability, his confidence, leadership, and franchise leading ability. The Titans and general manager Mike Borgonzi have made it clear in their belief for Ward to shift the faltering state of the franchise and bring them back to glory.

Borgonzi showcased in the draft that he was building around their quarterback, drafting wide receivers Chimere Dike from Florida and Elic Ayomanor from Stanford, as well as receiving tight end Gunnar Helm from Texas. They also signed undrafted free agent Xavier Restrepo, who was Ward's primary receiver in Miami.

Ward will also becoming into an improved offense line to what Will Levis walked into in 2023, with young pieces such as J.C. Latham and Peter Skoronski, signed vets such as Dan Moore Jr, Lloyd Cushenberry III, and star guard Kevin Zeitler.

Other offensive pieces around Ward include 1,000 yard receiver Calvin Ridley, newly signed veteran Tyler Lockett, young tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo, dynamic rushing duo of Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears, and former first round pick Treylon Burks

Ward has showcased faith in those around him, in a pre-draft stream on the hit game Fortnite, he stated the best receivers in the league involved Calvin Ridley and Treylon Burks, and stated his top two running backs are Spears and Pollard. Clearly sucking up to the team, but showcasing a level on confidence nonetheless, which is new and needed in Tennessee.

This will be a fun new shift for the Titans, as there has been a question mark at the quarterback position since the end of Ryan Tannehill's days on the team. We as fans can only watch and hope he ends up being as good as we hope, but we can enjoy his confidence and ability.
