Should the Tennessee Titans Extend Amani Hooker?

The 2025 NFL season is the last year in safety Amani Hooker's contract, so that begs the question: should the Tennessee Titans resign him?

With the 116th pick in the 2019 NFL draft, the Tennessee Titans selected Hooker out of Iowa. In his six seasons with the team, Hooker has accumulated 334 total tackles, 12 interceptions, and 31 passes defended. He has also forced five fumbles are recovered 2.

Spotrac.com estimates hooker's market value to be a 3 year deal worth $51.2 million, averaging out to $17.09 million per year. This would be a top end safety contract. This would place him as the fifth highest paid safety in the NFL, ahead of superstars such as Jessie Bates III, Budda Baker, and Jusin Reid.

Hooker has been a consistent piece for the Titans since the departure of Kenny Vaccaro after the 2020 NFL season. Since the departure of Kevin Byard via a trade in 2023, Hooker has been the only defender capable of consistently forcing turnovers. His injuries have been a problem though over recent seasons. Over his 6 year career, Hooker has missed multiple games in 4 of them, totalling to around 14 missed games in his career. Hooker has always played consistently good, and is debatably a top 10-15 safety in the NFL, and more than deserves a contract extension.

The real question is if he is worth the money. With his combination of age and injury history, the price tag seems rather high. I would love an extension for the veteran, but over 17 million per year seems high. There will be debates over the year on his extension, and we may even see Hooker in a trade throughout the season.
