Titans Sign Edge Rusher Jihad Ward After The Retirement Of Lorenzo Carter

Yesterday, the Tennessee Titans were given shocking news: recently signed EDGE Lorenzo Carter planned to retire. The 29 year old had signed with the team during free agency and would fill a needed depth position for the upcoming season. His retirement left a hole on the roster though, so it was time for Mike Borgonzi to go back to the drawing board.

It only took him 24 hours to fill that position, as on Wednesday, July 23rd, Jordan Schultz reported the team had signed Jihad Ward. At 31 years old, Ward played in all 17 games last season for the Minnesota Vikings, cleay continuing his offseason strategy signing available players.

In his 10 year career, Ward has accumulated 168 tackles and 19 sacks. He is a clear depth piece and not much more. According to PFF, Ward was 4th in hits on the quarterback and 35th in pressures. He appears to be good in the pass rush but just struggled to finish the job with sacks. He should be a good pairing with Sweat and Simmons.

Excited to see Ward rush Ward in training camp.
